Paul Simon came out with a song in the 80’s entitled, “Slip sliding away.” In one verse, He stated, “God only knows, God makes His plans. The information’s not available to the mortal man.” It was a catchy tune, but he’s wrong. Proverbs 16:9 says, “The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.” God leads His children when we trust Him. He is leading Brother Mark to Trinity, just as He led him to River Bend.
Patsy and I have been blessed to work with Brother Mark these last four years. When we talk about life and ministry, I don’t think about our age difference. We are like-minded, bound together by our love for Jesus and His Commission to “Go into all the world.” Although Brother Mark and Stephanie and the kids will be at a different church, we will continue to be partners in fulfilling the Great Commission.
God will lead River Bend in the days ahead. There are uncertainties, but much of God’s Word is crystal clear. As Brother Mark preached from Philippians, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God…” “Rejoice in the Lord always, again I will say, rejoice.” “Singing and making melody in your hearts to God.”
