The Christmas Eve Candlelight Service is one of my favorite events of the year. Although we may enjoy toe-tapping southern gospel music or praise music with a beat, the candlelight service is a time for quiet reverent worship. It’s a time to reflect on the awesome beauty of God’s plan of salvation through His Son, Jesus, the Lamb of God who came to take away the sins of the world. As we enter a new year, I’m reminded of changes over the past year. We didn’t have a choir for several months, but then, we had a Christmas cantata. What a blessing it was! Thank you, choir for being willing to bless us, and for singing with a track for the first time ever. We didn’t think we could have a Kid’s Choir musical, but we did. Thank you Patsy and thank you kids, for putting on such a fine presentation. Thank you van drivers and riders, kitchen workers, kid’s teachers, sound and computer operators, movers, and those workers who helped with practices. The house was full, and we got to meet the kids’ parents at the fellowship after the service. Let’s pray we’ll see those parents in worship and Sunday School. Another change in the music ministry was the retirement of Tommy and Jacqie Gates after 25 years of faithful service. Patsy moved from the organ to the piano, and we’re singing more with the guitar. This was our first Christmas cantata without them. Tommy and Jacqie, thank you for your ministry among us. The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make his face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you. He keeps me singing, Lynn Pigford Worship Leader
